It doesn't really taste eggy, more like a cross between milk and custard.  It tastes extra-good, though, when you add a bit of rum to the mix!

An Aunt from Australia introduced egg nog to me when I was little. I loved it. She used half a pint of milk, one egg and a level tablespoon of sugar. It was bitterly cold outside at the time and it was a really comforting drink which I looked forward to, after walking home from school. I agree with Ouisch. It does taste like a cross between milk and custard...mmmmm!!! Although I haven't tried it with rum. There's time yet!

It was one of the most awful things I remember from my childhood - being given egg nog when I wasn't well by my grandmother.  I don't much like eggs or milk, so having them mixed together was truly disgusting.  I also hate custard to this day.
