Heavy TV in bedroom. Want shut, too heavy for me to carry down stairs. So decided to take it apart. I have taken out every screw I can see and tried to prise it apart. No joy. I feel like throwing it out of the window, watching it smash and then picking up the pieces. Unfortunately I can't lift it that high. No one to help me, so any suggestions?

Get a man with a van to take it away?
Can you see if your local council can come and collect it for you they may charge a small fee though.
Does it work? I mean, does it work if you put it back together?

If so, ring your local hospice charity shop, and they will come and collect it for you, to sell in their shop.
Or, list it on a local website as "free to collector"?
Is it broken?

I only ask because if you offered it on Freecycle or similar someone would gladly have taken it off your hands, thus saving you the bother.
Bugger, flip got there before me :P
That's the sort of problem that BBC local radio stations often like to help people solve. Ask them if they'll broadcast your appeal for help.

I put it on free cycle, it is neither flat screen or digital. Maybe that's why no on wants it not even the charity shops. The council will collect for a fee as long as it is outside and I can't bloody get it outside.
is it too heavy to roll end over end? so long as you dont mind damaging it? The stairs could be interesting but possible. When you get multiple fractures, You've been framed will still cough up 250.00 wont they?
Errrrr!..... STOP!

Heavy TV kinda equals an old CRT TV... as in the ones that have capacitors in them that hold enough power to kill for a long time after the TV is turned unplugged!
Could you not set fire to it?

:P
I think the council will collect it when you explain your predicament. If not leave it a week and phone again to arrange collection. When the guys arrive for it tell them its upstairs. I'm sure they'll nip up for it for a fiver.
But preferably not in the bedroom!
Lol Sherr. No, definitely NOT in the bedroom!

Sorry, I must have missed that part :D

Chuck please explain? the TV is about 8 years old.
I'd suggest getting 2 boy scouts in but if it's in the bedroom perhaps not......

No real suggestions then.
Have you asked the council for a hand down the stairs with it?
Give the dustbin men a few cans, one of them will nip in and bring it down for you if you explain your predicament...............
Wrap it in your duvet and slide it down the stairs.
If you are elderly (ish) you can try calling age concern. soemtimes they have a list of able bodied people willing to help those wo are physically unable to do things, and this might fall into that catagory- otherwise I'm afraid it's either asking a neighbour ( most people wouldn't mind even if you don't know them very well) or paying a man with a van as Sherrard suggested.
