Hi, I am the proud new owner of a steamer and have a quick question.
Do you have to 'stir' them?
I'm currently trying it out with some new potatoes and can't seem to fathom how they cook all the way though, but am resisting the urge to take the lid of and give them a 'stir'.....closely followed by wondering how steamed parrot would taste!!!! Noisy thing to say the least!

Oooo you answered just as it dinged!
20 minutes and cooked to perfection! Also shut Dave up [the parrot] as he is now enjoying salt free new pots!
I think I'm going to like this new addition to the kitchen!

Can you fit Dave in the steamer? Steamed cat sounds tempting.

Dave would definitely fit....not sure about a cat, maybe if it curled up tightly in the biggest bowl ;0)

I love me steamer as well. I have a hob one. I always stir but that's because I just can't leave things alone!!
Things cook all the way through because they are surrounded by steam which is at 100C. Much prefer steamed cauli, broc, cabbage, sprouts etc. to boiled because veg. isn't water-logged!
Never take the lid off an electric steamer mid steam! Trust me - it hurts!
