We I lived with a Dutch family, some years ago,Rijsttafel was prepared, comprising a dozen or more dishes laid out on the table. It is a beautiful sight...and very delicious!..From colonial times, when the Dutch settled in Indonesia..much like we British, with our love of Curries,Indian veg/spicy/chutneys..

breakfast and lunch are the same - the latter with a soup and things like rollmop herrings......emphasis on stews in the evening, things like that. Apart from the Indonesian food referred to, there are some good Argentinian restaurants.
Beware meals in restaurants are slow affairs - the Dutch hardly leave tips so service is slow as what incentive is there to turn tables over. The Dutch cuisine itself is not great.....
On exception though - their hot chocolates are brilliant "Warme Chockolade mit Slagroom"......the Hot Choc covered in wonderful thick whipped cream that isn't too sweet.
In Amsterdam, the best restaurant used to be in the Amstel Hotel, 2* Michelin, but I thought it was a good 1*......their café is nice and the Hotel used to do a great Sunday brunch....they cut back on this to high holidays but I do not know what the status is - their view right on the river is great...their wooden launch cruising the canals is brilliant - it is expensive for 1 or 2 but if you are six or more, far cheaper than the Love Boats and they tend to give you 1.5 hrs instead of the quoted hour and take you down canals where the "public boats" do not go......(and you can also have drinks or even eat aboard - not cheap but memorable).
The other one star restaurant that we used, was the "Sichuan Restaurant" in Reguliersdwarsstraat 35 and not bad Chinese food....
