Used to be Golden Syrup but I now use Manuka 15+ Honey. I've tried sweet and light Blossom Honey but the taste gets lost in Porridge somehow, but Manuka is perfect.
I used to hate the taste of honey but after trying again with different types, I have developed a real love for it.
Salt is ok but obviously there is far too much salt content in everything these days (along with sugar and fat), so I just avoid adding salt to anything as there is enough in my daily food already.
Hmmm now Maple Syrup......YUK!!! Too American for my taste buds, as they like everything sickly sweet.
