1970s-1980s crisp snack help

Hi. What was the name of the 70's/80's crisp snack? The crisps were very thin, often sharp (!) fried sticks varying in length from 4cm to 10cm. They weren't called chip sticks or French fries. What were they?

I thought they were called Chipsticks
Agree with factor 30. Maybe it's something I never saw or ate.
I remember them, I cant remember what they are called though :S
I seem to remember something like that ( can't remember what they were called though ), were they salt and vinegar flavour.

they were quite sharp and occsionally overcooked
Those were the ones i was thinking of chelle.
the ones puzzleking could be talking about used to look like matchsticks
cazz, i think the match stick looking ones were also called chip sticks.
they could be I suppose, the textures are very different. strange that I cant remember the name yet I can remember the texture and flavour so easily :/
cazz, my mom used to get them when i was a kid, Marks and Spencer own brand, and i am pretty sure they had chip sticks on the front of the packet. Not sure about Walkers, Golden Wonder etc.
google "kp mini chips" people reported of these crisps as being really thin and hard
were they called Mini Chips?

I remember these, they were quite thin weren't they, literally the size of a matchstick, I was always cutting my mouth on them. Can't remember what they were called though.
I have a feeling they were called Chipples - that is what I immediately thought.
