I dont have a deep fat fryer but i love chicken goujons in restaurants. I nearly got some in asda today but though if i oven cooked them theyd be no where near as crispy as i like them (mmmm)
And ive never deep fried using a pan or frying pan x
I only deep fry very occasionally and when I do I use my wok. Used to have a deep fat fryer but it gathered too much dust.

I used to own a fish and chip shop so didn't need to deep fry at home. I closed the shop in September 2010, had fish and chips just after Christmas, haven't had them since and there is no way I am buying a deep fat fryer.
I use a wok if needed Tinks. Also if you do want them crunchy from the oven use Panko breadcrumbs. They are the Japanese breadcrumbs are go reakky crunchy in the oven xx
Tink, if I need to deep fry for a chinese dish I use Groundnut oil 'cos it has a higher smoke point than veg oil. For all other I use supermerket veg oil. But as I say I don't deep fry that often now. I just made some crispy potato wedges with Cajun spice in the oven, for a treat. A little mayo and sod the weight police.
We don't deep fat fry any more because of trying to maintain lost weight, but I must tell you that the very finest chips ever are McCain's Home Fries deep fried NOT oven baked. Mmmm Delish.
Unfortunately, shop-bought goujons can sometimes be dreadfully disappointing. They may have far too much coating on, and the interior tends to be not plain strips of chicken but reconstituted chicken mashup. We can hope that Asda's are different . . but . .
