No doubt all the dog haters will now be calling for all dogs to be destroyed when this should never have happened if the police had done their job in the first place.
Lankeela, that's not the way any of the reports I've seen have portrayed it at all. They've all made clear it was dangerous dog and have questioned why no action was taken after a previous attack. At no stage have I seen it being made out to be just a normal family dog.
I certainly don't see anybody saying, lets ged rid of dogs all together.

No baldric, we live in quite a quietish area! no skinheads around here unless they come out at night, haha.
its just that when I hear of these attacks it makes me feel terrified and avoid any dogs that look vicious. I love dogs really but will never own one again as I really couldnt take it for walks.

Its the headlines that I object to - what you would expect of the red tops but when it appears on more serious news reports it makes me cross because it doesn't make it clear that they were going to arrest the man for the real reasons, rather that they have since arrested him because of the dog attack, if you see what I mean.
I have a copy of the Sun in front of me. (very high brow I know).
At the top in big red letters "5 cops savaged by mad pitbull".
Now, I don't really know anything about dogs but this headline suggest to me dangerous dog. Not cute little pooch.
I would think it's a good thing the headline makes people read the story, they'll see the full, important facts then.

I'm sure a few of you know I have two Doberman, both large butch looking dogs, who have been so well socialised they are very laid-back, they would (have) protected me and mine when called for, but are generally so relaxed they're in danger of falling over. Yet I'm still asked on a regular basis when out walking them "Why do I want such dangerous dogs?", this is always by strangers whom I've never met before and have no reason whatsoever to say my Dogs are dangerous other than their appearance.
