Can anyone recommend a source for obscure rums in the UK?

Is there an underground Rum society that I can buy from?

It doesn't necessarily have to be good, just obscure.....

Thanks Fluff, I've emailed the event organiser for recommendations!

Umm - I think he was more of a Captain Morgan man, I'm setting my sites a little higher than that.

JNO - Brilliant, 177 to choose from - I know little about rum so wil have fun wading through that little lot!

^^^even my 'sights'
Captain Morgan eh?

I had him down as supermarket savers :-)
Tesco's basic rum is good enough for my coke, but they do have some wonderful flavours in the Caribbean. I've had some as rich as a fine brandy.

Unfortunately in this instance obscure is better. The Caribbean mainstays will have all been tried, as will many of the other popular producers.

Brilliant link though :-)
The Whiskey exchange are always good fopr any spirit -

Starts off with the basics but there are 320 rum products there.

Master of Malt also a good shout -

I think its already been suggested but the drinkshop is another worth a look -

Thanks Pete, I had looked at one whisky site. Master of Malt is a new one on me, and much more within my comfort zone!

I'm beginning to feel a little overwhelmed by the choice. I'd be much happier if I could find a bottle of Rum from Xanadu, that is only bottled once a Millennium, costs £20 and is only available for sale one day a year - I'd be confident I was ticking my 'obscure' box that way!
why do you need and obscure rum?

this would be perfect for the gentleman in question

A group of very well travelled friends meet once a year to share their mutual appreciation for rum, I've been invited to join them this year. Know they have pretty much exhausted all four corners of the earth so I'm looking for weird and wonderful or I might go down the ironic route and turn up with a bottle of Malibu!
Buy a bottle of supermarket special and make up a fake label for it on your pc

Add a few drops of vanilla essence or something to make it taste really odd

You are wicked Rowan.....I'll stick that tip in my back pocket :-)
If it says something like limited edition single cask only or something you might get away with it
You can't go far wrong with a bottle of St Lucia's Chairman's Reserve. It's available in the UK now
Question Author
I'm pretty sure I've had that when on holiday, sadly it's too pedestrian for the crowd in question :-(
There are some recipes for chilli pepper rum using those scotch bonnet chillies... The rum that bites your bum
Question Author
Double wicked!!!

That definitely needs investigating especially as one or two claim to be chilli heads and another is a big girls blouse......I can feel some fun coming on....
