You can drink orange juice but you can eat an orange!
I agree with you, lilacben, it is definitely a food item. It is a solid object so how could it be a drink? You only get juice by squeezing the liquid out, so no question about it!
I've always found more than juice inside. Are they buying plastic oranges full of juice drink or something ?

That is exactly what I said. Anyone else.?
If I put an orange segment in my mouth and chew it before swallowing then surel I have eaten it, I swallow orange juice without chewing then surely I have drank it.
Food gets my vote!
It is a food. Ask them what grapefruit is, you can drink grapefruit juice, and apple and black currant etc...
Boxy & I both say food, as we eat them ☺
Both!
juice and squash are drinks! and the whole fruit peeled or sliced is food!

v clever grandkids! shows deep thinking!
My votes for food, you can't have the juice without the solid.
there is juice in meat and oil in hard cheese....doesn't make them drinks.
You can juice a carrot but would anyone not call it a food?
A tin of orange segments would be empty.
Food. And milk is cow juice. Maybe, with infant logic, they have seen orange juice first, in a carton on the drinks aisle, and can't bring themselves to understand that the orange itself is edible and a food
Definately food.
