Does anyone remember the cheese and egg flan from school dinners?

Obviously we didn't all go to the same school, but i was a lover of school dinners in primary and secondary schools and one thing i used to love was the cheese and egg flan.
Does anyone have an authentic recipe for this and is it better to by a premade flan base then make one? I tried to make one the other night using crushed outs as the base and eggs, grated cheese as the topping but the egg mixture got a bit burnt and the oats wasn't a good swap for the original flan mix as the eggs didn't stick to the oats and separated leaving powdered oats still in the flan dish.
Beers to anyone that can help or point me in the right direction, even just to reminisce about the lovely school dinners which i heard aren't nice anymore.

You could have a spoonful of grated chocolate tipped on top of the semolina at school. I would eat all the 'plain' semolina first so the middle bit would be extra-yummy!
Liver at school had more tubes than the London Underground but there was the most wonderful dinner lady who would take pity on some of us. She would stand beside you with the front pocket of her pinny open and nod when the coast was clear. We would slip the offending piece of liver in there and she would walk on to the next green-looking child!
By the time she got home, she must have had enough toughened liver and pipework to make a dozen bagpipes!
