I'm shocked marval hasn't yet told us, it's the fastest bun in the world ....
Food porn? I suddenly like porn.
I think raspberry jam`s best. The tartness makes it less sickly. It`s got to be proper cream made from Devon red cattle. That`s quite hard to find now. My gran made the best clotted cream (as did most farmers` wives). None of your friesian, pasteurised stuff like nowadays.
I wasn't sure myself whether it was bread or cake. But my family always pronounced it scon
and sandwiches first with the crusts cut off..... then the scones then the cakes
lol, I have to say, baking was never really my strong point.

o ' dear ... I'm now on the malt loaf

toasted or as it is ?
I've never had toasted malt loaf
Mick, I put them back together then bang them with a hammer so that the jam and cream squidges out and it will fit into my tiny mouth.
Well I'm in the process of making my Bara Brith. It translates into spotted bread, but IS it bread? There's no kneading involved; I think it's more of a fruit cake only in the shape of a loaf.

marval

do it .... you're missing out
.... and scone (pronounced scon) is a cake. (IMO).
Thank you for the recomendation Mick, I will try it.
Mick, do not argue with the powerful battler :-)

It should never be toasted, just covered with butter. None of that 'I'm kidding on I'm butter' malarkey either.
Would a big Italian one be a Burlysconey?
