soup maker

I am thinking of buying a soup maker. Does anybody have any recommendations or makes to avoid ?
Is a pressure cooker the same type of machine?
I don't want to spend too much on a gadget that will end up in the cupboard with the smoothie maker, popcorn maker etc (will have to check out what I have stashed in said cupboard)

Then a few seconds with a stick blender to blitz it, nothing could be easier, I didn't even know there were such things as soup makers. I also work in a professional kitchen and we do soup exactly the same way just a bigger scale like 50 litres at a time. The stick blender we use looks more like an outboard motor.

There is only me - when I had the dog he had a bowl of soup too so a pot only lasted a couple of days. They kitties aren't really interested.
Andrew has a pressure cooker - he grows his own veg and has his brood of little ones and a wife to feed. He makes soup in the pressure cooker. I will not jump in and make a purchase until I have thought this through - I usually buy then think about it.
I use my Foreman grill - fantastic little machine that even I couldn't set fire to.
