No difference as far as I know so just the name then!
gala pie up in these parts has an egg through it
I'm pretty sure that Grosvenor pie has egg running through it too.
But the egg white is always rubbery.
wonder why someone would make the name longer? unless the long version of gala pie is grosvenor pie,
That's true, but I still like it :-)
I have always wondered how Grosvenor pie is made. Can anyone explain how the egg goes all the way along?

If I were the head of the Department of Philosophy at a leading university I would insist that the above was a compulsory question on the final examination paper. I would also award first class honours to anyone brave enough to answer it.
For the home made version, it's several eggs with the ends trimmed off placed end to end.

the commercial version uses processed and extruded egg.
It's laid by a very clever hen.
Or so Bill Oddie sang once on an ancient episode of I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again
Oh,Chuck, how mundane , prosaic and boring. You have shattered my illusions.
Chuck

A possible, but incomplete, answer. Whether processed or not I still would like to understand the method of inserting both yolk and white all the way.
The spelling.

Re ISIRTA - do you know the title of that episode? ISIRTA is on Radio4 Extra at the moment and I am recording them.
Hi Howard...I'm not at all sure as I'm relying on my memory.
I've had a look at an ISIRTA website and I cannot find the song. I'm sure it was Bill Oddie who sang it but am beginning to wonder if it was not from ISIRTA now...the Goodies, maybe ?
Sounds more like ISIRTA , though.
I think first you must have to work out the dynamics of a hens bottom to find extra long eggs. Boil the egg or maybe two from whence it came and place the egg/eggs if two eggs cut off the excess egg white at the middle. Place lengthways inside the pie on top of the meat and then top with a further layer of meat then flatten it down well, topping with the pastry lid before baking. Don't know the difference between Grosvenor or Gala, don't even like pie with egg in the middle.
Any pie containing eggs is gross...................
And this is the finished product of the machine I just posted the link to...
