separating egg whites from the yolks

I got this in an email. As I have never had to separate egg whites from the yolks I have no idea if it is difficult. But this method looks idiot proof.

Separating an egg white from the yolk is not, I REPEAT NOT, the most difficult of culinary tasks. My late mother had in her kitchen drawer, as I presume most housewives had in the 50s, a simple little piece of plastic, rather like a small saucer, which had a small slit in the bottom running lengthwise, much like a Japanese vagina, into which she would break the egg over a teacup. In due course the albumen would sink in to the said cup, leaving the yolk to be used for other things. This, of course, dates back to the days of rationing, when eggs were a valued product, not things to be thrown willy-nilly at persons of whom one might disapprove.
