My fridge is empty and I'm writing my shopping list, what do do you fancy for lunch tomorrow....you're all invited, be sure top come armed with a bottle or two....

It all depends on how you like to cook. Persoanlly I'm a one-dish, bung it in the oven type. So I would get som shine beef, throw it in a casserole dish with celery, onion and carrot, plenty of water and seasonings a la cupboard and leave it to simper happily in a low oven all day. Maybe spruce up the juices with a squidge of tomato puree before serving, perhaps with a baked spud or whatever takes the fancy.

Sounds a bit too easy Mosaic, I've got the day to myself so quite happy to potter away in the kitchen playing around with more adventurous stuff.
Ah - then I recommend a fanny Cradock approach, with blue-dyed potato mash, steak with foie gras and a shellfish starter,
Calamari any anything with goats cheese, por favor...x
A nice thick stew please with fluffy dumplings. If you want to go posh dream me up a nice dessert..................

Mmm, I do have some beetroot; a beetroot, goats cheese and walnut salad to start.

Wouldn't buy calamri round here on a Sunday....
