Crossed over town to one of the many Chinese's to have a takeaway as where I am the chicken is frozen cubed and rubbery However tried this chinese chicken and they did ask me did I want yellow, red, or green curry. Not knowing what anything was I plumped for yellow curry and while the chicken was fine the curry was completely runny and also buttery. Also I couldn't believe it there were potatoes in it. Not used to that all!!! Is this Thai cooking. If I had have ordered Red or Green would it have been thicker and more hotter.

There are many, many different types of curry.

Thai Yellow Curry does exist. I find it milder than the green or red curries.

Thai cooking is very different to Chinese, it would have said if it was a Thai restaurant. Yellow sounds buttery, butter chicken is a Chinese dish. Whyever didn't you ask what the difference was?

That sounds like Thai and I always find their curries much more liquid, I think that's the style. Can't remember how it goes but I did think red was meant to be milder than green.

Boxtops it was like a wee huckster of a place not a regular beautiful restaurant - their own people eat in it which was what drew me to it. So I did not want to ask questions when I knew I would not be able to understand the answers.

looked at the leaftlet there it does say Thai - even at that I would have though the curry was thicker.

Yes it is thinner than the green and red curries. I would have thought that having the potatoes in it would have meant it wasn't the consistency of water though!

Thai sauces are thinner, IMO - personally I find Chinese curry too glutinous, if I want a curry, I go to an Indian.

Did the menu not give any idea of the differences?

Thai Yellow curry does tend to be aromatic rather than hot,with added Turmeric to give it colour.. The red and green curries will have more chillies added to them.
