Christmas cakes????????.....................how do you make yours.??????????

I have always mixed the butter and sugar together and creamed it, Then add eggs.flour ect. But just now was looking at another recipe and it was made differently. Rubbing butter into the flour.......then add the other ingredients. I didnt know you could make a rich fruit cake like this.?? What do you think??

I always do it your way too, using an old recipe of my mums. Cream brown sugar and butter, add eggs, then flour and spices, then alcohol soaked fruit, plus nuts and ground almonds. Yum bloody yum

My Christmas cake recipe uses the 'all in' method, so different again.

As the family Christmas cake make I use my Grans method which sounds very similar to Lynda's, make it early and store for a few months only taking it out of it's air tight tin every now and them to give it a drink of your chosen alcohol. Decorate a couple of days before Christmas it rarely lasts more then a few days once it's started.
