Does anyone know the name of the surgeon who rightly prided himself on the speed of his work? This must have been in the days before anaesthetics so speed was an important consideration.
This chap achieved fame when, while amputated a leg, sawed half way through the table, cut off his own thumb and a testis from an attending porter.

Thank you, Baldric + Mamya. I laughed at some of their mishaps.
Shouldn't have, really :-)
Makes you wonder though whether some one like Robert Liston could have been Jack the Ripper ?.
Liston was Sqad's maternal great, great, grandfather so the butchering skills stayed in the family, where the Ibuprofen lineage came from, no one knows.
Edward VII was Jack the Ripper - when he was Prince Albert...
DT....wrong.....Sony Liston was i my family......;-)
Sony or Sonny, the former was the inventor of the Japanese TV......
A great boxer, sqad.
