I love cranberry sauce and eat it all year round - it's especially delicious with roast chicken! And mixed with a bit of orange juice and mint sauce, it's perfect with roast lamb. Or try it in a sandwich - Wensleydale cheese with cranberry sauce on granary bread is yum yum yum!
Buy some fresh or frozen berries, add maybe two ounces of water to 400g, with a table spoon of sugar or honey and a squeeze of lemon juice. Gently bring up to a simmer for five mins -that's it. You can season it with any combo orange zest, cinnamon, port (no chance here, that's gone) pepper, and then just freeze leftovers for a month or so. Much cheaper
Thanks humbersloop, you've given me inspiration.
Off to the shop to buy some fresh cranberries to make cranberry jelly.
A man with a plan and a pan? It's gonna be messy.
Had a fun afternoon making cranberry jelly.
Smell was wonderful - reminded me of when my gran used to make the bramble jelly.
First attempt was too bitter, think I boiled the berries to death.
Second attempt was a reasonable balance of sugar and berry.
Third attempt - added some apple pulp. Turns out quite tasty.
Used every bowl and pot in the flat - Mrs P not happy.
