Can I Open The Lid Of My Breadmaker Mid Cycle.....

or will it ruin the whole thing?

Ive just peeked inside the glass-top lid and the dough is mixed and read to rise(only half hour into a 3.5 hour programme) and there is a bit of dough stuck to the side so when the bread rises to that part its going to catch it and probably stick there. Do you think i can open the lid and quickly whip it out or will it bugger up the whole programme?

I open mine although I don`t do it once it starts heating. It doesn`t ruin the cycle though. The lid isn`t connected up to anything that affects the cycle.
I wouldn't recommend opening it up. I did it with mine when I first got one and the bread was only fit for throwing out. I stuck to the rules STRICTLY next time and the bread was lovely. Good luck...

Hmmm, not sure what to do now! lol. Will keep an eye on it I think, seeing as im stuck in the kitchen for the next few hours whipping up tonights meal.


It`s not a Morphy Richards Fastbake by any chance is it? That`s mine and it`s OK to open the lid.
I check while its mixing but try not to once its at prove, deffo not during bake as that way lies frizzled eyelashes. Don't try and fiddle with it, be trusting and the machine will sort it.
Don't worry, it won't prevent the rising, it'll just be a novel adjunct to the finished loaf - opening it could adversely affect the rising process.

Bread just finished and it is fine! I left it alone and as it rose it dragged the bit of dough up with it and baked it, so ive just picked that bit off.
