Bi-Carb Or Baking Powder.

When making cakes sometimes it say use bi-carb and other times baking powder. Why is that ?

both are raising agents but baking powder has a bit more oomph 'cos it is bicarb plus cream of tartar

personally I always use baking powder for cakes and keep the bicarb for soda bread....delish!
