Port maybe?
Anything you like.

I suppose it depends what you are using it for. But not much.
Question Author
I'm making a crab and sweetcorn soup which calls for 50ml of dry sherry. I'm not buying a whole bottle for such a small amount.

I'll go to the pub if it can't be substituted.
Would dry cider be suitable? It would be cheaper.
Question Author
I really don't know. I've never tried sherry.
Go to your local and buy a glass of dry sherry to take out?

A very dry white wine might be ok.
could soy sauce serve as a substitute?
i'm sure a non-alcoholic crab and sweetcorn soup would be just as tasty
Get a bottle of dry sherry.

Use wat you need.

Drink the rest over ice on Sunday lunch time.

You should have dry sherry in your fridge. Always.
A dry white wine, reduced to about half its volume by heating in a saucepan might taste fairly similar or, as been suggested, dry cider might work.
JJ, dry sherry is minging on it's own! :((

I'd go with dry white wine.

Question Author
I'll do that then. I can drink the rest :-)
Ummmm, I don't think you would notice that tiny amount of sherry, it's only an egg cup full. If you must, a combination of pasta's and sandy's might do the trick, the proportions might be a bit tricky though.
Well, I was gonna say that... :-)
P.S I think grasscarp should get best answer :D

// dry sherry is minging //

I don't think that was the advertising slogan used by Tio Pepe.
umms ... buy the dry sherry. It will change your weekends for the better.

Dont bother with "named" brands. Go for an own brand Fino. Waitrose Fino is fab.
"I don't think that was the advertising slogan used by Tio Pepe."

Er yes. Yes it definitely was.

Stop trying to turn ummmm into a sherry drinker.
