i would like to try a proper cooked lobster/crab cooked by a professional,if i dine out are trhey very expensive.

Crab is quite cheap, depending on what they do with it. Lobster is more expensive. There's nothing quite like a freshly dressed crab with a glass of Chablis.

Crab is a lot cheaper, langoustine in between cost-wise.

Lobster is quite expensive but crab is not quite as pricey. I love them both.

That depends where you go.

Go to a top london restaurant and ask for it, then yes it will be expensive.

Go to a decent local seafood place and ask for it, then it will probably be a lot cheaper than a london place and better.

Quite expensive, especially lobster.

I think ... no matter how skilled the chef, it's hard to improve crab or lobster.

In its basic form, boiled, chilled, eaten with some cold white wine ... they are both delicious. Personally, I think that crab has better flavour, but lobster has better texture.

Once you start trying to ponce it up, you lose some of the natural tastiness.

oh, a good thermidor, Jayne.....though my ideal is a 2lb-3lb lobbie thrown out of the boat and into the cooking pot, no drawn butter or anything like that is necessary, and so fresh you don't even need those crackers to bust into the forearms! Delish. And yes to a crisp Sauvignon Blanc that is lovely and cold, or even a Moselle.

Crab, you can buy dressed, though it isn't that difficult if you know how - if you have a good fishmonger, he/she can show you on how to do it.

i want to try it,have seen them in the rozen food cabinets in the supermarket.my father would turn in his grave if i bought a frozen one as he was a fisherman and we always had fresh,but at that time i refused to eat fish but now i love sea food.

Loch Fyne sea food restaurant, less than a two hour drive from Glasgow. You'll love it slinky, give it a go.

we're really spoiled kate, for an hour's drive we can access either, fresh boiled from a friend's boat, and there's nothing nicer than a just lump of buttered bread and a mug of tea with them at any time

try the local supermarket's fishmongers - you'd do worse

The best seafood place in the whole world is a little place called Riddle and Finns, down a little alleyway called Meeting House Lane.

The front opens out on to the alley like a bar, and they have stools.

It is SO hard to walk past without stopping for some seafood and a glass of fizz. So hard.

I can get a dressed crab on the fish market for about three quid .
Cromer crabs are the best ,but I'm biased .Lovely with some brown bread and butter,a bit of pepper and a squeeze of lemon .Better than any cheffy dressed up stuff .

You should smell the sea, that salty brine, not the fish - if it's really fresh.

I have a Loch Fyne restaurant near me. I don't know, the last time I went it seemed more like the chain it is, whereas unless memory fails me, previously it seemed quite a good restaurant. Not sure if there was a change of policy or something. Wasn't there for crab or lobster though, but was disappointed at the selection of fresh fish, especially wild caught ones.
