When my young grand daughters visit me age 3 and 7 they love to get involved in cooking . I emphasise 'involved' as so many recipes require too much adult input. They enjoy mixing dry ingredients ( it's too hard for them when it's wet and stiff ). They enjoy decorating the tops of cakes .
However I want to try making something savoury and would appreciate any ideas.

Make pitta pizzas - pitta bread, a little tomato purée and anything else they fancy. Let them do their own wraps (you chop, they fill).
Similar to Sherr's idea but make a batch of pizza dough from scratch. They will love rolling it out and decorating their own wee pizzas.
cheese straws..savory biscuits with seedy toppings, any kind of pie
Burgers/fish fingers/kebabs/sausage rolls/
Mine don't do a lot of cooking as I tend to do it whilst they are in school (so I can spend time with them when they come home) and also because the eldest two won't eat stuff if they think the younger ones have been anywhere near it.
Lol sherrardk my grandaughter was making us an apple crumble, rubbing the pastry then scratching her bum, said I was really full! She's 7, god bless the kids.
Cheese scones
My grandson says that the yorkshire puddings that he mixed for me were the best that he'd ever tasted. I know its a 'wet' mix, but quite easy to do.
Onion Bhaji's and naan bread.
Cheese straws are easy for them to make and to pick up the finished result.
Savoury pockets or tarts could be an idea, they can help mix some of the pastry and cut it into the relevant shapes and get the ingredients for inside ready such as cheese, tomato, veggies etc... and put them in.

A quiche could be done similarly, might be interesting for them to see how it sets.

Thanks for your ideas. I tried a cheese savoury pie today.
All great ideas my kids love them. Have you tried that ready made puff pastry there is loads you can do with it. It is easier if you get the pre rolled stuff but rolling it out can be fun too.

Then you just spread what you like over the surface, tom paste, jam, marmite, cheese, sultanas and cinnamon anything really roll it up and cut it into little sections, they can do this with a normal eating knife as it is so soft. pop in the oven... lovely. x

The trouble I find is that with so many children's recipes invoving anything ready made , there is so little for the them to do that takes more than a few minutes. I have found mixing lots of different dry ingredients and decorating the tops of large cakes with cake spreads and sticking on as many different small sweets as I can find in the shop.
I must have a go at making pizza dough . I've never done that.
What's pitta ?
I had some spare pastry which we wrapped around sausage size pieces of cheese. It didn't take them long to do but the result was delicious.

You can use the pastry to make little sausage rolls. If you buy some good sausages and skin them or buy good pork mince. Let them mix the meat in a bowl with some herbs and place a little ball of the mixture on the pasrty to make sausage rolls.
Pizza dough is great because they csan be involved in the mixing and the kneading and then they can watch the dough rise. Then they can have fun with toppings.
