Years ago, I used to buy a really yummy ice lolly from Pendleton's ice creams. They are no longer around but I'll never forget this particular lolly, although I have forgotten its name! It was yellow - banana in flavour, with a quarter coating of chocolate at the top end. Can anyone put me out of my misery?

The only thing I can rember about Pendletons was their advert that had the words "There's nothing nicer than a pendletons twicer"

dont suppose thats any help, unless the "twicer" referred to whichever flavour with choc on top.

What could be nice than a Pendletons twicer, ice cream with a lolly each end.  I think that's how the jingle went.  I remember them well.
Norman Pendleton, the founder of pendletons ice cream is a member of our Golf Course (Ormskirk). He's a nice chap and very wealthy
I remember the Pendelton's Twicer jingle, too, and that awful St.Trinian's-type schoolgirl who was on the ads! The lollies themselves were delicious, and although other manufacturers jumped on the bandwagon and produced similar lollies (eg. Mivvies) the Pendleton's Twicer had a unique flavour and remained the best. I've still got a Pendelton's Twicer wrapper.
Funny what passes thru your mind. I couldnt get the jingle out of my mind. Must be a sign of old age! What year or decade was it?
Hi FortiesChild - would you be kind enough to send me a pic of the Twicer wrapper? - I'd love to see one!

It was my Grandad, William Allen who came up with the Twicer - he had a number of ice cream vans in Liverpool, and when he went out, he realised all the kids wanted both an ice cream and lolly ice but only had money for one or the other. As Pendletons were his ice cream supplier, he suggested they make what became the "Twicer"! I understand it was quite a hit.
Norman is the son of the founder.Bill Pendleton senior foundered the company in the 1930's in Norris Green, Liverpool. alongside the railway bridge.
They moved into a unit on the Kirkby Industrial Estate a wartime Munitions factory site, I remember them there in the early 1950's After Bill passed away the Factory was run by Bills eldest son also Bill.
It was sold to Lyons Maid in the 1970's and was eventual Purchased by Nestle' who still make most of the products made by the Pendletons at their factory in Telford.

The above link is a BBC story about the Pendleton's Factory in the early years.
What you are describing is a TrebleChoc. The jingle was 'Treblechoc, TrebleChos, the two tone lolly with the choc on top'!
I remember them, was it not banana split?
I was torn between them and the pink ice cream on a stick came in a wrapper, awh
