Barbeque
18 Answers
Apparently, I am now catering for BBQ on Sunday (how to kill Mr BM and get away with it will be the subject of another thread).
Now I would normally do some chicken skewers and fish skewers, but one of my guests is allergic to shell fish.
Any ideas for other meat skewers that I can knock together quite quickly would be much appreciated. I might go for some home made burgers, which I can knock up in a few minutes, but other than that, what can I serve? (Apart from a Spit Roasted Mr BM - I learned about this 4 hours ago when I was on the telephone to a colleague).

Wrap each chunk in a slice (or half a slice) of bacon (smoked if you like smoked). Thread on a skewer with pickled onions, bits of sausage, and chunks of red and/or yellow pepper. Brush with anything you have to hand or make your own with oil, tomato pure, Worcestershire sauce, runny honey.
Each skewer should have two bits of everything on it. You can use chicken, pork or any other meat you might have, as well as or instead of, the sausage.

I love corn on the cob done on the barby. Lamb kebabs are quick to prepare, served with yoghurt and mint dressing

A BBQ is the easiest thing in the world to cater for, everything is going to taste the same anyway -burnt :-) Sausage, steak or homemade burgers, shop bought marinated wings and ribs. Potato salad, tabouleh, green salad, bought dessert or ice cream and lots of booze. All done by 12 lunchtime tomorrow sorted. You can of course battle with skewers and all sorts of fiddly things but frankly this is self imposed martyrdom and it won't be appreciated. Do the above and you will be a stress free hostess and everyone will have fun -yes you too .
Try some fruit skewers, like these...
