Puff, flakey, short whatever your fancy good pastry is thought to be the mark of a top baker.

Who do we think will rise to the top? Have a look at the clip here:

I'm wondering if they will go for something technically tricky to test them like filo, which could be quite illuminating!

I think it's time for Glen to go tonight. I think Christine and the Army wife will do well, the more traditional bakers maybe. I hope Ruby does ok though, I do like her.
I agree Eve, I think it's Glenn's check out time tonight, the competion will then get a lot tougher. I'm in two minds about Ruby, she keeps saying she can't do this and that or that she never practiced, then seems to come out on top. I quite like Kimberley and Francis seems to have upped her game in the last couple of weeks but agree with you about Christine and Beca, I'm going to try to watch it whilst it's on tonight as I usually record it.
i like kimberley, ruby's simpering is really starting to annoy me now

i hope they make sausage rolls :-)
Sausage rolls made with very finely chopped apple mixed into the pork sausage meat and pastry made with coarsely blitzed pork crackling are the food of the Gods!

I'm looking forward to tonight's episode.

Glen's not got much chance here, I don't think.

Here's all their names for those who forget (like me!): http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b013pqnm/profiles/bakers

I would like Glen to stay because he has a really good worried face that makes me laugh. Maybe Christine will crack under the pressure (again)?
Oh God Eccles, I'm sitting here drooling now ;)

That sounds good Eccles - it's elevated it slight above a soggy Greggs!
Is it series 3 at the moment, they're advertising a book but they don't normally release until the end of a series do they?
eccles!!!!
Sorry peeps, they are seriously good!

The only trouble is when I go to make them I find myself snaffling the crackling before it's been blitzed and then don't have enough for the sausage rolls :-(
I'm making them next time I've got crackling (if I can hide it for long enough)

It's a great idea.

The problem with GBBO is that I always want a cake, pasty or something similar when it's on.
I'm a pork philistine, don't like apple with it, though crackling...OMG mmmmm!

It partly puts me off Ed, it's like the other week, bun overload!!! I'm not into a lot of rich stuff, like a fair bit of what they bake. Like cakes, I can't eat rich stuff like fruit cake, more of a light sponge kinda girl.

I'll take one of Eccles' sausage rolls (without apple) though :)
I am looking forward to see the how the avant garde puff pastry methods turn out.

The contestants have clearly been guided by the production team to give the competition an edge......
I loved the little choux nun challenge.

I'm not getting the fascination with figs and prunes and such though in recipes, especially with suet.
Gosh, I'd have bombed in this episode, except for the nuns, I fancy I might have done them justice.

I think the correct person got sent home, though I do like him, and it's a shame there's not a fella left in.
