Today I have mine stuffed with butter bit salt, home made Chilli con carne and sprinkled with cheese :o)

I often bake two at a time, I have one with lots of butter and black pepper. The second one I scoop out the innards, mash with some butter, cheese and sweated leeks and refill and cook them the next day.

In the bin .terrible waste of a good spud
Large enough to be the mainstay of the meal rather than needing two or more at the side of something else. Had one with tuna & sweetcorn yesterday. Baked beans are good. Chilli too. I'm surprised there are not multiple "baked potato filling" ranges on the shelves of the supermarket though. Someone is missing a trick.
I tend to have low fat coleslaw with mine. Sometimes I do them hasselback style then I go a bit mad and put olive oil on them before I cook them.
I now really, really wish I still had my microwave, because I have some rooster potatoes in the kitchen that I really fancy, but they take soooo long in the oven.
I used to 'cook' them for 5 minutes in the micro, then bake them brown and crispy in the oven. Always tuna and cucumber for me :)

Love the idea of the Leek and cheese one Eccles (thank you)... I Love Jackets weecalf, why don;t you like them. I've never fancied the idea of tuna with Jackets OG...I'm the same with pasta, just can't put tuna and pasta together.

I also like to take the filling out and mash it up with corned beef, top with cheese and pop under the grill for a few minutes

I bake mine for ages, wrapped in foil with oil and sea salt. just have them with butter and loads of pepper. x

Jackets are one of the few things I use the microwave for Baby Sham...Like you I finish them off in the oven to get a bit of crispness to to skin

You just don't get the same fluffiness using the microwave though, the skins might be crispy but you can't drive out the moisture in the same way as you do in the oven.

I really want a baked spud now.........

Hi voddy, do you never have fillings in them?

If we have any bolognese sauce left I use that as a topping as well, again sprinkled with some nice cheese...
Jacket potates are great for snacks, there are that many things that you can have with them.
Not really mazie, sometimes I will have cheddar but I prefer just butter and pepper. I really want one now! lol xx

Triggs...I'd only miss mine for the Jackets....I know what you mean Eccles about the fluffiness, but it's so quick for a lunchtime snack using the microwave..

That's the trouble with jacket potatoes. You can't just have one when you feel like it. You have to wait.......................a...........long...............time.
