I had over 200 lessons and about 5 tests before I realised that I could just catch the bus instead. Andrew is a good driver - he drives a people carrier crossed with a tank.
Mfirst car was a mini and we have quite a large double garage. I was reversing out one day and couldn't pull out in a straight line because of how our drive runs. I lost it and ended up sideways on in the garage. I had a good swear, drew breath and worked myself out again....I wish now I had taken a picture...years later, I told my DH and he didn't believe me, he didn't believe it could be done!!
When I was forced to work for a living there was a car park across from our office. Some old guy (aged about 80) seriously damaged 7 cars trying to get out of the car park.
I was exiting a car park when i was about 19. A car was coming towards me so we both had to stop. He got out and said, "do you know you're going the wrong way?"
I said, "I'm not. I'm going to the exit. But the arrows are pointing the wrong way."
He looked very nervous, got back in his car and reversed to let me past.
My neighbour opposite is a lousy driver, his wife is OK but he cannot reverse park into his garden. If there's a car in front of the house he just parks up until his wife moves it for him. (This is the one who puts his jacket and overcoat on when he gets out of his car to go into the house).
