My next door neighbour works for a drinks wholesaler and often brings crates of beer back home.

As he doesn't drink he kindly gives them to me.

Usually they're a month or so out of date but the latest batch he's given me was out of date Oct 2010.

sip or tip? does beer really go out of date?

Gerrit necked.....
It can go off - but may not have.
Your first sip will tell you.
One way to find out - try it.
Wetherspoons have made a fortune from old stock.
Old peculiar?
As already said - try it and see.
If it's off, it'll taste rank .... if it tastes okay .... down the hatch with it :)
I went to a wedding once where the groom had spent a FORTUNE having a lager and a bitter produced with a picture of himself and his bride on the label.
Every single one of the bitters was bad.....
I sipped from a can of beer at a works party many yrs ago, and have never ever done that again. Reason being that I had a mouthfull of slimey, lumpy stuff sliver down my throat.Ugg!!!! Must have been off, so always use a glass now.

lol, ok will try a sip and see. I'm more of an ale drinker than lager so not sure exactly what I'm tasting for.
My father worked in the age where barrels were delivered to pubs
and in one - he liked the publican -one used to be off the whole time.

It never did him harm - as far as we could tell - I mean he onbvisously died at some time but not obviously from it

anyway all the country types and ex army are telling you to neck it
and they usually Know - { how to skin a badger, confuse a fox etc...

If it goes well I have a bottle of ale brewed by Youngs of London to commemorate the Queens Silver Jubilee in 1977.......
a month will likely be fine - the dates are just a guess really - they have to put something on there.

also its a best before date , not a use by date, which means the product is still safe after that date, but the quality will begin to decline.

OK you're obviously an inquisitive scientist....

Drink one - and if your head goes like those heads in "Scanners"...

wait for 24 h - drink another one and if your head explodes again,,,,,

it probably IS the lager....
Yes.... but it is no longer 2010 joko...
too scientific or pointy-headed.... Shoota
let the fella enjoy his ale

have any of your frenz died from this - No
have any of your frenz done this ? almost certainly yes
If it tastes and looks OK it is OK. If it's cloudy and murky and tastes foul, pour it down the sink. Simple.
If it says best before- try it. It won't hurt you.
Look - it's lager, which is all pretty much p!ss by another name.

Ignore the date, pour it away and then drink something that tastes like real beer should ...
save it till you are constipated....then sit on the loo and drink a a can!!
or save it until you have a head-ache !
