Distilled Water

I need some distilled water & I don't really want to go and buy some. If I remember rightly isn't boiled water the same?

No. Boiled water will still contain dissolved salts (permanent hardness).

boiled aint same; can you melt ice from fridge or freezer (not ice cubes but ice caused by electric power).

Is it frozen then thawed water? I have a vague memory of my brother using that in his motorbike battery....

You can make it yourself by holding a clean glass filled with ice over a boiling kettle or pan.

The steam that rises from the bpiling kettle is pure and then it will condense on the cold surface and you can catch the drips in another clean glass.

TBH it is probably easier to buy it though :-)

What do you want to use it for? If it's for a steam iro, just bung in ordinary tap water - it will be fine.

I live in a hard water area and absolutely cannot use tap water in my iron.

Admittedly in the years that have passed since my iron was last used my water may have dramatically softened........

Alternatively use deionised water. This is tap water which has been passed through an ion-exchange resin.

If you have a condensing type tumble dryer, you can use the water from that.
