It seems that there are one or two chaps on here that can cook.....or at least talk a good cooking experience!

Mr Cake 'can' cook but doesn't, his last attempt was disastrous and nearly fatal.

So chaps, how many of you take a turn at the stove each week and do you have a speciality dish or are you able to turn your hand to most things?

My late husband was a splendid cook, all from scratch - grinding spices etc....but oh my the clearing up after lol.

My husband thinks he's The Galloping Gourmet just because he puts a couple of steaks on the griddle.

Last time I tried to teach Mr Puss to cook boiled potatoes, he done ok.
But asked if he had to drain water out of saucepan or mash with water in it.
I soon gave up!!! haha

I cook on my days off, and I wash up afterwards and put everything away

I think my OH could cook if he put his mind to it.

He can do a decent fry up now I've retrained him (his mother over cooks everything and uses loads of oil)

When we got some good knifes he was happy to stand in the kitchen doing all the chopping.

Nibble cooks, he's better than me at it, and generally he'll provide our meals. He specialises in 20-minute jobs like stir-fries, but they're good!

when i left school many moons ago i trained as a chef got my city and guilds and so forth, only did it for 5yrs but you never forget, i love cooking 35 yrs on!

My last ex wasn't too bad though he tended to stick to certain things like stir fry. I did most of the more full on cooking though I love cooking for other people.

Another ex it was safer for me to cook :) There was one memorable occasion when I was out he tried to fry some fish fingers in cordial thinking it was oil! Then there was the incident where he tried to insist that gravy had to have flour in it to the extent I nearly handed him the Bisto to see how far he would get :)

Actually, I'm a darned good cook, but I tend to drive Mrs. C. up the wall when I do since I have a need to clean up as I go so at the end, there's very little needed to have the kitchen spic 'n span, whereas, when she cooks it takes days to clean up after...

I prepared Chicken Fettucine Alfredo last evening... simple but always good on a cold winter night... served with Bruschetta and a simple but tasty Antipasto Salad with Bocconcini and Green-Olive Tapenade...

I cook every day, sometimes two or three times, and like to try new things from time too time. My latest acquisition/experiment is a single induction hob - but now I need to get more suitable pans as I only have a small cast iron frying pan at the moment which works on this hob (I quite like the look of ceramic pans for this, but have yet to make up my mind). I also have a halogen oven, a slow cooker, electric hobs, a bread maker, and of course the ubiquitous microwave.

Mr Los does a good fish finger sandwich and er......toast. That's about it. I'm sure he could do more if he put his mind to it but as he often reminds me, he is better at gardening & DIY (which I fully agree with) so we stick to what we both do best!

We both cook, him indoors bakes bread as well. I'm more of a 'make it from what's in the cupboard', he likes to go out and buy all the ingredients anew. Which is why we have numerous jars of dried sage.

Mr BM says "I can follow a recipe. I can tackle most things. I make Master BM's pizzas from scratch. We tend to work together in the kitchen and it is really a joint effort."
