Am going to make Chilli later and fancy putting some chocolate in. Have never done this so what is the recommended amount. About 1lb of mince. Thanks for any advice.

Just a couple of squares of dark chocolate, four at the most.
Typical Nigella, excess is the new minimalist ;-)
Probably about 3 to 4 ounces according to your pound of meat… following Eccles… make sure it's not milk chocolate and the darker the better. We use it here in the U.S., but add about a dollop of apple cider vinegar as well… Seems to brighten the chocolate background flavor.
...or, about one half-teaspoon of cocoa powder (NOT drinking-chocolate!) does the trick.
....Clanad's "three to four ounces" sounds way too much to me....
Oooh yes, agree with Gingebee.

Always just add 3 to 4 squares of dark choc as above

Thanks all, was going to do this today but some old friends turned up and we had a few glasses of wine, so its on the list for tomorrow.
Ummm... one square of dark Baker's chocolate here in the U.S. weighs 1 ounce.

I use Mexican chocolate which is very dark, somewhat crumbly and always has just a hint of cinnamon in it...
Ummm....well, four squares of a typical dark chocolate bar weigh 25 to 30 grams... that's about ONE of your ounces.
