Yes, the booze police won't come and get you if you don't, but it us usually served chilled.

I do NoM, some don't, some people have it over ice, personal choice I think

Cheers, Woof. I wasn't sure as I've only ever had traditional port before.
Whilst on the subject of wines, I was given a sparkling shiraz a couple of months ago, should that be chilled?
Rocky, I would chill it.
Question Author
I would be inclined to serve it slightly chilled, Rocky.
me too.
Thanks all, I'll put it in the fridge. Will seem slightly odd to drink red cold though!
>>>I'll put it in the fridge

. . but hopefully you'll remember to take it OUT of the fridge at least an hour before serving it! Domestic refrigerators (at around 4C) are far too cold to chill wine, which (in the case of most whites and a few reds, such as Beaujolais Noveau) need to be served around 10C to 12C. Wines served straight from the fridge lose much of their flavour. (A decent Chardonnay, for example, should be packed with loads of flavour but most people only ever seem to taste very little of it, simply because they over-chill their wine).

I must admit that I probably overchill my wine, but then I do like it really cold.
Question Author
Me too. I can't stand wine not chilled.

With statements like that one, NM, you might not win the award next year!
