Oh yes, I forgot about my uncle's sandwich of choice. A slice of pork pie!! I also like a breakfast sandwich made of a rasher of bacon, the yellow of the egg, half a slice of fried bread all dipped in HP sauce. Mmmmmm
Granary bread, unsalted butter, philadelphia cheese, and strawberries with lots of cracked black pepper. Once assembled, a slight pressure is needed to meld the flavours together!
I was just coming back to say that too! It's an old concoction that predated balsamic but that adds to it.
Also love thickly sliced ham and sour cream pringles, again, with pressure applied!
//marmite and banana// the food of the devil, indeed.
//Aha Ethandron, have you tried turkey, stuffing, sausage and bacon in mayo with a lashing of cranberry sauce spread over the bread?// And add some chipotle and raspberry sauce from Fischer & Weiser in Texas; that would be Heaven!
haven't read all the previous posts - but there are a few odd mixes mentioned- my top sammitch is cheese n strawberry jam(I don't think it is an odd choice)-
also partial to strawberry jam and raw onion in a sammitch
Make a pot of ham and haricot bean soup (or open some canned). Serve hot in a bowl. Get a crusty sub roll, split. With a slotted spoon, load roll with beans and ham chunks. Top with green onion, black pepper and Tabasco. To eat, dip into soup broth. Divine!
