Tagliatelle al Ragu Bolognese

According to above recipe 3 and half ounces of one meat and the other which makes it half a pound (old recipe) supposed to feed 4 people.

I have seen myself cook half a pound of above meat for myself ie stewy etc and wasn't enough. I must be a greedy so and so.

Have I got ingredients wrong.

If I knock up an Italian-style meat-&-pasta dish for myself (no recipe - it's just what I throw together), I'll use 100g of mince [simply because I freeze mince in 100g portions] but I'm well aware that that's a great deal more than a supermarket 'ready meal' would contain (where there's typically around 40g of meat in a single portion). So, given that AC's recipe is bulked up by the celery and carrot, his quantities seem about right to me.

Anyway, what are these 'ounces' you refer to? I 'went metric' (along with everyone else in my class) when I entered secondary school - and that was half a century ago!!!
I think on the whole the British people use more sauce on pasta than the Italians do, therefore half a pound of meat would be more than enough for the sauce used the original way.
A real Italian pasta and ragu dish is based on there being a lot more pasta than ragu. It's the pasta that's the main ingredient.

thought so??? - yes if you go into Antonio's recipe he talks in ounces - bless him - I will never grasp these metrics. no good at all - I think it turns me off cooking. goodnight everybody - sorry to all and sundry for last night - it was my first night of being off being the wagon since before Xmas - went onto it at a wedding 1 Feb back off and (what the hell am I doing - justifying myself to yous all - LOL good night see you in the mornin

If you look at the picture in the link you can see that the sauce is just dressing the pasta.

The recipe is correct but there is nothing stopping you from adding more sauce if you want to.
I added more meat than in the recipe. It's a really lovely dish. I had it with garlic bread and salad and everyone got clean plate stickers :-)
I always make four times the quantity and divide up for the freezer. I reckon I probably get 5x2 portions, maybe 6x2.

I doubled it and added extra meat.

It done 5 meals but that's because I live with greedy men!
I sometimes use thinly sliced potato instead of pasta, especially when I'm feeding my mother who wont eat 'foreign muck':-)
My step father wouldn't eat pasta, he didn't like foreign muck either........he did like a plate of spag bol though!
My mother's 94 & wont eat rice, pasta or anything that resembles ethnic food. She does a good line in low-level racism as well.
My dad always moaned about foreign muck as well but would happily bring home a Chinese on the way back from the pub on a Saturday night.
