Fish - Love Or Loathe?

Inspired by another thread I am interested to know why so many people dislike fish and seafood?

Many people I know are deterred by a fear or bones, some by the smell others are scared of preparing/cooking it.

I would love to eat more fish but getting access to fresh fish is a considerable effort as I don't have a local fishmonger or touring fish van.

So, do you opt for fish or fowl?

My son gave me fly fishing lesson for a birthday. I caught four trout, and you can keep 3, and it was the best I have ever tasted.. I must book another fly fishing session. At least that way you know its fresh!
Forget this fishy stuff, have what I'm having for tea now. Faggots, mushy peas and chips.
Love fish, really enjoy the Chinese glaze salmon kebabs from Tesco fish counter, really nice with salad and new potatoes, mmm.
Not so keen on seeing head and tail though. So tend to buy fillets.
rocky, can you still get Birds Eye Cod in Butter Sauce? I haven't been able to find it in any of the local supermarkets.
Marje...yes you can. Most supermarkets stock it.
I love fish, but get unnerved by the bones. It's only prawns i don't like. Never tried oysters, though.
Oysters are nice.
Dressed Lobster in M&S today mazie, £22. Good job I am strong-willed.
Bit slimy though?
Yes slimy unless you cook them. They are very nice cooked as well.
I love fish, we have a local fishmonger who calls with his van in our street every week. It is actually cheaper to buy at the supermarket but I have stayed loyal to him in case I'm unable to get out to the shops. My BIL hates fish because if he gets a bone that is the end of the meal. My neice hates the smell of fish cooking in the house. I have the windows open and the cooker hood extractor on when I cook it. I love cod roe and the soft herring roe but he doesn't sell that on the van.
Vinegar and pepper on the peas Tony?
Can take or leave fish. I have a small tin of Mackerel every day but I get paranoid about bones. Love salmon, trout, smoked haddock, absolutely adore prawns and scallops and best of all, deep fried whitebait.
I used to LOVE fish but for 38 years, I've been a vegetarian so I gave up fish as well. My grandfather was on the trawlers so, as a child, we used to get the best fresh fish. I never see a fish shop any more. The rise of the deaded Tesco effect has put a lot of fishmongers and butchers out of business. I know I'm a veggie, but I hate to see the demise of these small shops to the big bully boys.
like both but would rather have fish. we have a v. good wholesale fish monger (based in a large garage) in the village and I get quite a bit from him. also local farmers' market has someone who sells fresh crab and mussels, etc. so that's lucky. fairly easy to get fresh caught fish here i'm pleased to say.
I love all fish and sea food. For many years sea fishing was my main hobby, when I got home Trish would flash fry a couple of fillets while I had a shower then we'd have them with a couple of slices of bread and butter, from the sea to the pan in a matter of hours it was perfect.
I'm allergic. simples! Tch. :o}
sorry to hear that boaty. so is my youngest. such a shame.
Love it. I could give up meat but not fish and seafood x
I love seafood so much that I created blogs about my love for them. http://seafoodlovesme.wordpress.com.
