Does anybody else like me dislike this description, with the chips either in a little bucket or piled in a little heap next to the meat. I am afraid I can't see the point in this ,just so pretentious.
It's chip in a bucket that I can't stand - just pointless. And the only time I had thrice fried chips I would more accurately have described them as burnt.
For those of us that can remember what real chips taste like I find we do not need a description as such. My Grandma made the best chips ever which she cooked in dripping. I still try to copy every so often. I think foodies make us feel that we have not achieved perfection in creating a meal unless it looks like a picture on a plate.

I rarely cook chips at home .I get a bag of chips fried in beef dripping on the local market now and again .I very much doubt if they are fried thrice and care even less .All I know is they taste delicious !
If you don't like chips in a bucket, just tip them on to the plate. A lot of restaurants use a tin/pot to keep the chips crisp as often a plate is wet from sauce/dressing resulting in soggy chips. Putting them in a container avoids this.
