Does Unopened Wine Go Off?

We've some unopened bottles of wine white and red obtained up to 6 years ago. They've been kept in a dark cool cupboard. Would they be ok to drink? I know we could try one ok lol.

Well, it won't kill ya. If it was off a sip would tell you that it's undrinkable.

after six years it's probably okay (it's when you've paid thousands of pounds for 100-year-old burgundy and you find it's gone off that's a problem). Depends on the wine, of course. Why not open it and see? What else are you going to be doing with it?

Should be okay but if cheap wine, less likely.

Open and try - then if okay, we'll recommend 600mg of Ibuprofen three times a day (Sqad's recipe) for your hangovers.

Reds keep better than whites usually, but darkness, a cool atmosphere and rotation will keep them best- just try them.

Wines that aren't intended for 'laying down', generally keep well for at least 2 years (whites) or 3 years (reds). After that they might be OK (particularly reds) but you do risk finding that they'd be better poured over your fish & chops (as vinegar) than poured into a glass!

Yes just try for one first if it is ok then go for it usually best quality of wine doesn't get sour or bad.

Some whites come with the message on the label 'Drink within six months of purchase'. Some reds come with the message on the label 'Excellent now, but will continue to improve over the next several years'. If there's no such message, opening and trying is the only way you'll find out if it's still good.
