I bought some a few days ago and they show no sign of softening.

They are listed as a delicious eating variety. It is possible that those which you have bought have been harvested too early. However, given a few more days at room temperature, you could be in with a chance of being able to enjoy them. :-

If they remain hard then you could 'poach' them in lemonade.

I find the trouble with pears is, for example, 11am and they are way too hard. You leave them for a day only to find by 11:02 they have turned to mush: or that's what it seems like.
I think forelles stay crisp rather than going soft. They still taste good though.

I'll leave them another day and then start on them by cutting them up rather than biting into them.
