Hi Henrietta,

We usually get the fillet steaks, & fry them sort of rare or medium-rare as you would with a beef steak, (or however you prefer it.....)
It's got a complete taste of it's own, a bit of a cross between poultry & beef,
Give it a try, I really recommend it.....

p.s - don't cook it for too long - it can soon go dry....... :-)
Do you salt them or will the sand suffice?
Sand's great, but make sure it's from close to the sea.....

I see nothing wrong with eating ostrich, crocodile, kangaroo as long as there is a plentiful supply.
I believe it is kinder to eat wild animals than farmed although I do eat farmed animals, but never farmed fish.

Sherrardk there's quite a few exotic meats I would try, kangeroo, llam and horse but I absolutely draw the line at crocodiles as I saw a nature program once about hippos and there was this hippo which was in the water for months all bloated and maggoty with beetles crawling all over it and the croc ate it.

Imagine the stench! Croc burgers=pukefest!

hc - completely agree with you - we will only eat wild fish, but anything else...

Up to now, we've tried caribou, crocodile, springbok, okapi, kangaroo, & bison.

Henriettia - whereabouts do they sell crocodile curries?
Tesco used to sell ostrich years ago and I did try it...bit bland really, and because its so low in fat, you have to cook it very quickly, else its a bit tough.

Never seen the need to try it again.
Boxy....I had one. It was nice.
My sister used to have three ostriches at her smallholding in Devon, we did have some of the meat when I stayed there in the past, and it wasn't bad when cooked as steaks, but tasted better when marinated and used in a stew. I thought that it had quite a gamey, strong taste, which I wasn't terribly keen on.
Bob - that was me. It's a curry house in Hereford that's a bit odd (v modern, plates bigger than trays, strange garnishes, prefer to plate a curry rather than bring it all out in separate dishes, etc).
Had it in Kenya but can't remember what it was like. Tried crocodile and zebra at the same time but this was around 15 years ago.
