Whisk some hot milk until it is frothy and add it to a strong cup of coffee.
Shake a bit of hot chocolate on the top and he'll never know the difference.
The fact that every single seller at every single car boot sale is selling a coffee machine ( or sometimes 2) suggests that the manufacturers have not yet got it right.

These are worth a look. My friend has a Melody and the coffee is good. individual pods are inserted for a cappucino or an expresso etc. She has a whole collection of coffee pods in various flavours. It was about £100 i think from John Lewis.
I got the gusto melody, for £40 from tesco, Argos had a good deal on them as well. Eldest daughter and I bought each other for Christmas, I really like it and so easy to use and about the size of a kettle.
Plenty second hand ones around. Many people bought them and as usual, they were a 5 minute wonder. They ended up unused like fondue sets, electric carving knives, auto veg chopper etc. They all eventually take the Charity Shop Trip. !

Whenever i fancy a cappuccino coffee i just use the sachets of them that Nescafe make. Just open sachet, tip in mug, pour on boiling water, done. It makes a lovely drink. They cost only £3 and theres loads of sachets in the box. They also do the same in assorted types of coffees too.
you can buy cappuccino, mocha, espresso sachets in box of 8 from poundshop...very nice my brother tells me..I get them in for him as I do not drink coffee...window cleaner likes them too !

Many thanks to everyone for your replies.. I must admit I am loathed to buy a coffee machine as we already have a fresh coffee maker that is good. But he likes the coffee shop ones better. But to me it is just hot froathy milk on the top. So I am going to get some sachets and give them to him also thought about the foamer tool... That should keep him quite.! lol
Get a plunger thing ... a one pint semi skimmed milk .. make coffee add milk to taste..lgive a flipping good shake to the rest of the bottle you will end up with cold but really frothy topping for your cap ... found this out by shaking up a not quite defrosted milk ... instantly drinkable .. cocoa optional ... I have a campaigner hardly use it ...mostly an ornament
>>cap machine .... flipping predictive text

Tell him yes, if he buys it from his money, sources whatever is needed, uses it and cleans it himself and serves you with your choice of perfect coffee.
Oh, and washes up the cups afterwards
