How many times does Gordon Ramsay touch his mouth with his hands yet is always advocating that the kitchens should always be hygenic. I have never seen one of his programmes where he does not do this.

Programmes like Kitchen Nightmares are highly edited (obviously) it would be pretty boring if they showed the chefs washing their hands all the time.

What I always find surprising is programmes like Saturday Kitchen, which is live, how they handle raw meat and then pick up the pepper grinder without washing their hands.

can`t stand him....and agree with ummmm I am forever shouting at Saturday kitchen..wash yer hands..tie back your hair..take those rings off when kneading etc etc

And people who dry their hands on tea towels...grrr!!

The touching his mouth issue wouldn't bother me though. We all do it without realising. If we sanitised every time we touch our face or hair we wouldn't have time to cook.

and wiping down counter with tea towel.GGRRR ..I could go on...best I put an Electrc fence up at the kitchen door.. LOL

I'll send the mater over, minty, you'll have her under your slab in ten minutes for her towel uses.....I rewash everything and dry it off with a paper-towel, not that she washes kitchenware/utensils even half-well.

If this sort of hygiene infraction bothers you, ( as it should, of course) you could try taking a close look at the people operating the tills in your local supermarket. Sooner or later you will see one of them separating carrier bags by licking their fingers to get a grip on the plastic. Then those fingers go on to handle your food, passing on to your purchases the pathogens from their mouths. And human mouths can be filthy places.

lol, i probably pick up the pepper grinder without washing my hands & i def use the the tea towels to dry my hands. i dropped a piece of cucumber on the floor earlier, it bounced off murph's head, i just picked it up, ran it under the tap and ate it.....

My daughter offered to wash my toast when it popped out of the toaster onto the floor. Never mind Gordon when do street food vendors go to the loo and wash their hands?

Raw meat is bad enough but when I see chefs on Saturday Kitchen handling raw chicken then just dipping their hands in soapy water and straight out again and then wiping......that really irritates me.
