I'd have thought that it would taste better because of the pleasure of knowing that you'd got a bargain.

Note to wine drinkers: Avoid Lidl's £4.49 Australian Merlot. I tried a bottle this week and it's definitely the worst wine I've had for years!

(On the other hand, Asda's 'La Moneda' Chilean Merlot, at £3.87 is better than many wines at three times the price)

Aldi has a malbec for around £6 that is extremely good and their claret is as good as any I've had in France as a Table wine.
