Spongy? I would.
Have they got root nodules showing?
Question Author
Yes
I suggest you to chuck them if they are green or showing the roots, as the poison solanine is accumulating - Potatoes (like tomatoes) contain poison in the stems and leaves – and even in the potato itself if left to turn green (the green is due to a high concentration of this glycoalkaloid poison). Potato poisoning is rare, but it does happen from time to time. Death normally comes after a period of weakness and confusion, followed by a coma.
Good for disposing of the other half perhaps!

Ok I will throw them out

No point in popping in the garden then?
Question Author
Btw - there is no green
Not even any good for chips then, DT ?.
I watched a programme not so long ago about throwing away food. The expert said that more or less anything can be eaten unless it's started to go slimey. Slimey is the sign of bad bacteria. Anything else, including mould, can be eaten, just cut the mould off and tuck in.

Personally, I'd chuck them.

I'm going to throw them
Although the old saying- what doesnt kill us ......
I was gonna chip some green spuds I had the other day until Mr Boo saw them, he made me throw them away, ruddy wuss!
Sell them on ebay?
Surely Vivaldi should be OK for four seasons?
Very good, lol ^
Get them eaten. If they're sprouting or green just cut the offending bits off.
The amount of toxins in a green potato would be hard pushed to given you a stomach ache let alone be fatal. But spongy ? Potatoes are cheap, go buy fresh.
GIVE
LIKE I TYPED !
Put them in the garden and you will have a lot more than one potato
12-14 weeks time !

They'll be fine as mash or soup.
