Razor Clams...

Can anyone give me an idea what they taste like?

They actually taste a bit like normal clams. Best way is wash them thoroughly to get all the sand out, and then BBQ or griddle. I love them.

They don`t taste of anything much. Overrated in my opinion.

Going on holiday soon and have been looking at nearby restaurants. They appear on loads of the menus. I love shellfish.

They do look a bit ugly though...

really nice, if you like clams, a tad sweeter when fresh.

The trick is attention in cleaning them, treat them like a Moules Marinière as to cooking, lots of garlic too, or an aioli served with them.

Razor clams are lovely ... they taste a bit like whelks and are a a bit firm to the bite ... really just try them .. no one can tell you waht they are like...just try a couple...you will like them I am sure.

I'll definitely try them. I've never actually seen them for sale or on a menu. Just seen them a few times on TV.

I've seen them in the fresh fish shops in Spain. Having never tasted whelks or mussels, do they taste anything like scallops?
