I`ve got some harissa chicken for tonight and dug out a couple of cous cous sachets from the cupboard. One is Ainsley Harriott lemon, mint and something else that I can`t remember. It was horrible - had an overpowering artificial lemon flavour. The other one said "Seasonal cous cous" and it was a sachet that I had kept back from some kit or something. That was horrible as well - really bitter. Does anyone know of any nice brands or an easy recipe? (nothing with apricots or other fruit as I can`t stand sweet and savoury together) Thanks

Buy raw cous cous and do this: Fry a little onion in butter in a pan, add two cups of vegetable or chicken stock and bring to the boil. Add one cup of raw cous cous and turn off the heat, put a lid on the pan and leave 5 minutes. Fork through the now cooked cous cous and add fresh herbs of your choice plus any flavorings such as a bit of chili, grated rind and juice of a lemon, etc.
Other than that Aldi do lovely packets of seasoned cous cous -the lemon and herb is really nice.
I would make the cous cous using stock and add things like peppers and onions with some herbs.

Thanks ummmm and Retro. I think I`ll do something along those lines. It`s just that I want to catch Sainsburys before they close. I think I`ll follow your start off Retro (I tend to use shallots rather than onion a lot of the time) and try a bit of smoked paprika and lemon juice. Thanks again.
