I am always amazed by some people who suck on lemons but complain when food is too spicy

I meant strong foods...and used the lemon and spicy to indicate examples of strong food types

Lemons are acidic and spices are alkaline, so perhaps even though you say both are "strong", a person may have a higher tolerance to acids than alkalis or vice versa.
