Xenadrine is a popular but controversial body-building and weight loss stimulant openly procliamed by some USA athletes, while critics say it can cause unhealthy side effects. As far as I know, the stimulant Ephedrine, which can be derived from a Chinese herb or synthesized is found in many supplements including Xenadrine...
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, products containing ephedrine have been linked to 81 deaths and more than 1,400 complaints of adverse side effects from 1993 to 2000.
A California lawyer has filed a lawsuit on behalf of clients who took Xenadrine, saying: "We want to alert the consumer to the deceptive advertising about the health benefits of these products."
The manufacturers countered: "Our business is providing supplements that further health and fitness, and the health and safety of our customers is of utmost concern to us."
Hate to be depressing, but the only way to lose weight is to eat less food than your body needs to burn - and would recommend the website backed by the British Diatetic Association -
http://www.realslimmers.com
- but they don't back any supplements at all.
